relaxation indentation
(rus. индентирование при релаксации)
—
studying relaxation behaviour of a material using the indentation method.
Description
To study the relaxation properties of a material the indenter is introduced under an increasing load until it penetrates to a given depth. Then the penetration is kept constant to build the curve of indenter load dependence on time at constant penetration. Analysis of this curve allows to determine the relaxation properties of the material. The study of material relaxation properties by indentation normally requires equipment capable of detecting the dependence of indenter load and displacement on time. Also, it’s important to have the ability to keep the indenter penetration at a given level at the text bench, which greatly complicates the equipment design.
