homopolymer (rus. гомополимер) — polymer, whose macromolecules consist of repeating structural units (monomer units) having similar composition and structure.

Description

Repeating (monomer) units of a macromolecule have the same chemical composition as the molecules of its original components (monomers) only in polymers produced by the polymerisation of unsaturated or cyclic monomer. If during production of the macromolecules the reaction results in the release of a low-molecular compound, as in polycondensation, the composition of the repeating unit differs from that of the monomer molecules.
