xerogel (rus. ксерогель) — a product of aqua- or alcogels drying at atmospheric pressure and under rather harsh conditions leading to a collapse of macropores and a significant increase in density of the material.

Description

Typically, the collapse processes do not affect the mesopores, and many xerogels are characterised by a high specific surface area (hundreds of m2/g).
