mesopores (rus. мезопоры) — pores with diameters of 2 to 50 nm.

Description

The classification is recommended by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). Such pores were allocated into a separate group, because it is in the pores of this size that the capillary condensation (condensation at a partial pressure below the vapour pressure) occurs and can be measured. Mesopores can contain oxides of silicon, aluminium, zirconium, carbon materials, aluminosilicates, etc. Mesoporous materials are of great practical interest as sorbents and carriers for catalysts.
